Historic Football will visit Leominster one more time...
On Saturday, October 16, 2010 at noon, two teams of eager combatants will don leather helmets and period uniforms and re-enact a memorable 1933 Thanksgiving contest at Leominster’s Doyle Field. On Thanksgiving 1933 the Leominster and Fitchburg met in a battle of the undefeated. It is the only time in more than century of Thanksgiving contests that the teams met while both were undefeated. In the pregame coverage of the 1933 game, the Leominster Enterprise noted, “Reserve a niche in the Leominster’s Hall of Fame for the Football 1933 team.”
